Piano and Keyboard Workshop from MAGIX is a complicated program. If you want to stand a chance at learning how to use it you will need to employ the services of their help section, which I might add is superb. A detailed description of every button function is included in the help section.
The 30 text-only lessons cover a lot of ground but the only songs included are the ones taught directly in the lessons. Piano and Keyboard Workshop does not have the ability to track user statistics, however, it can score your performances. It can score your performance by left or right hand separately or both together.
The shining feature of Piano and Keyboard Workshop is the recording studio for composing and arranging music. This studio features a matrix, event, note and drum editor as well as GM, GS, and XG support and an integrated Wave Browser for optimal sample management. The lyric mode displays song texts. Audio effects include stereo delay, chorus, reverb, double EQ, and optional support for external MIDI instruments and devices. This studio also is able to work with any MIDI song imported and can print out music.
Piano and Keyboard Workshop could be a great product if it were to lift the rest of the program up to the same level of quality as the recording studio. If your primary interest is in mixing or recording options then this may be a good program for you, but if you need instruction as well as recording ability see Teach Me Piano Deluxe.
